JOB DESCRIPTION
OWNER OPERATOR FOR AMERICAN TRUCKING CARGO
Owner Operators are required to maintain accurate DOT trip logs, conduct vehicle inspections, and comply with all DOT regulations. OWNER OPERATOR JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Must have at least 2 years of Class A combination (tractor/trailer) driving experience within the last 10 years.
- Previous employers and references will be checked and must be verifiable..
- Stable work history and good references (for experienced drivers no more than 3 employers in the last year).
- OTR or Regional lanes- Choose the lane/route that works best for you.
- Home weekly or biweekly based on area/preference for home time.
- Transparency in showing Rate confirmation.
- Steady and stable work environment, consistent lanes -Weekly settlements..

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must have your own truck, required 1+ years of previous OTR driving experience is a preferred.
- Transport freight from one location to another. Meeting the pick-up time and delivery time.
- Tracking required.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions.
- Send over the paperwork to Atcargo after each delivery has been made.
- Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
- Placards vehicles to meet Company and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements/regulations.
- Complies with Company policies & procedures and Health & Safety procedures, Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Communicates regularly with Coordinators regarding daily time and demurrage.
- Maintains daily logs, time sheets, expense reports, dispatch, and trip reports as well as vehicle inspection reports.
- Follow traffic laws.
- Report problems and accidents to management.
- Maintain vehicle logs.
- Read maps and followed directions.
- Report traffic problems to other drivers.
- Provide good customer service.
- Meet pickup and delivery schedules.
- Follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
- Manage excellent self-management skills.
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips
- Know knowledge of commercial driving regulations
